Grumpy Goat Tavern in Elgin

Very nice bar and grill. Huge portions with excellent choice of sides. Upscale furniture and beautiful view of the golf course. Good service. Draft selection was slim but I think they were in the process of changing out some.

This place has a great beer selection & the whiskey list is extensive!!! Amanda is one of the many great bartenders here. I especially like there happy hour drink and food menu!!!

A bright spot when it comes to the variety of choices on a creative menu. Good service but can't say it was exceptional. Food certainly meet and exceeded expectations. Prices are in the upper middle range but not unreasonable. The only problem was minor but should have been handled better. There was a small hair in the warm corn bread when I pointed it out to the server he was very apologetic but that was it. No replacement offer or any other mention by whomever was in charge. Things happen and while distasteful it wasn't as big of a deal as the lack of any other acknowledgement by management. I want to be clear that acknowledgement needed only to be verbal and not monetary!

This spot is worth a try. They have large portions for convenient rates. Always clean and with awesome mood. Would recommend to others.

Went for lunch, the burgers are wonderful and the sweet potato fries are also very good. The grounds were clean and the staff was nice. It was a bit slow of service as there were very few people in the place at the time.

Great atmosphere, cozy and pretty low key in the winter. Interesting menu choices, so it was hard to choose. I have had the tuna sandwich and the enchilada special, both very nicely presented and delicious. Servers have been good, friendly and relational. We will be back!

I attended a group function here today. As such I would not be able to give comments on the traditional restaurant services. I can however say that the wait staff that serviced this gathering were very good. They were attentive and prompt at taking refreshment orders and serving. There was a buffet provided and the food was very good. Since I was a guest I can not comment on cost but would suggest that anyone looking for a venue check out Grumpy Goat. It could be exactly what you need.

This is a nice place overall. The food is delicious and the dining area is well designed and decorated. The service can be slow, but the chipper staff make up for it!

We really enjoyed our visit to the Grumpy Goat. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. Most dishes are Cajun-influenced, so they tend to be hearty, yet elegant. The duck soup was unbelievably good. Lightly smokey, with beautiful seasoning. My friend ordered the Cuban sandwich and declared it to be the best he’d ever had. I had the stuffed pork chop, which was also wonderful. We’ll be back soon!

We've made this a bit of a December tradition. With the golf course closed, it's not quite a crowded, but still a popular place on weekends. The food is good and the service is top notch.

Nice selection of New Orleans inspired dishes and standard pub fare. Excellent standard and signature cocktails as well. On top of that, our service was excellent! We'll definitely be back when we are in the area again.

Beautiful area with golf course and sports complex. I had the burger special which had gardiniera and "scorpion" (hot) BBQ sauce along with bacon and cheese. Very tasty. Service was excellent.

EVERYTHING IS GOOD. Everything from the drinks which have the correct liquor concentration (med/high) to the tasty pickles for my chicken burger. Love the food, waiting staff and atmosphere. If the cookie for the desert was warm, that would have been better.

Nice place. But great whiskey selection. Staff are friendly and helpful. And last but certainly not least, nothing is beating the gorgeous view of the golf course. Simply amazing!!!

We randomly came across the Grumpy Goat Tavern online. We were a little skeptical due to it being a golf course restaurant but the menu looked intriguing. We were NOT disappointed. The menu has a tremendous array of options, all of which sound amazing. We selected the flatbread d'joir, the deviled eggs, and a couple of signature Manhattans to start with. All of which were amazing!!We then had the jambalaya and the Blue & Goat cheese Burger with duck bacon. And yes, we continued to be impressed. Our server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. She helped make the dining experience even better.So many more items to try...We will be back!!!

This place is my favorite restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. Whenever I I need a special lunch, this place comes first to my head. extremely good and many types of food and a rich menu.professional team, and good ambience. Not less important, the pay is fair. I praise this spot with no hesitation.

I’ll give this place 3 stars because the server and hostess were very friendly and the view of the golf course is nice. The food however is way over priced. The small hamburger is hidden under the bun for $14.00!

Bleu Goat and Duck Burger was Amazing! Add Cajun fries and a jalapeño olive Kettle One dirty martini and you have the best post 18 hole meal imaginable. Great food! Great service! Go there today!

Very good food but it is creole and New Orleans style food so most everything is spicy. You should know this going in. The food is cooked well and presented nicely. Just a little too spicy for my liking. The room screams party/reception so no real privacy or comfortable furniture since most is foldable or stackable. Still highly recommend it!
